Why do we have this?

The policy is designed to address:

• poor performance (a lack of skill or aptitude in your job)
• genuine persistent, intermittent short-term absence
• long-term ill-health absence

We recognise that it’s important to deal with capability issues without undue delay.

This policy applies to all UK Jurors and provides a framework for dealing with matters in a fair, supportive and consistent way. It doesn’t form part of anyone’s contract, and Juro reserves the right to amend it at any time and skip levels of action.

Objective

If you are not performing to a satisfactory level, the purpose of this capability procedure is to encourage and help you to improve your performance to an acceptable level.

Principles

Where possible, Juro will ensure that there is:

• a full discussion of the situation with you
• identification of any problems or difficulties you are experiencing, and an exploration of the possible causes of them
• provision of help and assistance to improve the situation where practical
• a full discussion of the possible consequences of you failing to improve your performance levels sufficiently
• a reasonable amount of time to achieve the improvements required by Juro
• a review of your progress

Everyone’s case will be different, and so the actions we take in each case are likely to be different. Your manager will be involved in any discussions.
